Developments in Syria highlight Türkiye's regional significance, German officials say

Germany is seeking to improve its relations with Türkiye, German diplomatic sources reported.
President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is scheduled to visit Türkiye on Feb. 5, where he will meet President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara.
German officials noted that recent developments in Syria have further elevated Türkiye's importance in the region.
They said Steinmeier believes initiating an inclusive process in Syria is crucial and aims to enhance cooperation with Türkiye.
Steinmeier will also visit Saudi Arabia and Jordan as part of his itinerary.
